Can't Connect to eduroam from my Android

Problem

"I can't connect to eduroam on my Android after trying to sign in with my Cal Poly email address and password." 

Solution

Follow the instructions below to remove networks, certificates, and profiles, then connect to wireless.

Step 1 - Forget eduroam Wifi on the Andriod device

  1. Go to Wi-Fi settings.

  2. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on, then tap Wi-Fi.

  3. Press and hold on eduroam and tap Forget
    Repeat this step for Cal Poly Guest, and WiFi Setup, if applicable.

Step 2 - Re-connect your Andriod to eduroam Wifi.

  1. From your Home screen, open your device's Settings app. Tap Wi-Fi

  2. Select the eduroam WiFi network from the list.

  3. Make sure the following information matches the information on your phone. Enter your university (Cal Poly) email address (username@calpoly.edu) and the password you normally use at your home university.

    • EAP method: PEAP

    • Phase 2: MSCHAPv2

    • CA certificate: Use system certificates (This field may be automatically populated on some Android phones.)

      • Online Certificate Status: Do not validate

      • NOTE: With these certificate settings, the connection is secure and fully encrypted to the normal standard.

    • Domain: calpoly.edu

    • Identity: Your university (Cal Poly) email address (username@calpoly.edu)

    • Anonymous identity: leave blank

    • Password: Your university (Cal Poly) password

  4. Tap Connect. You should now be connected to the eduroam WiFi network.

If you're still unable to connect, try placing your email address in both the Identity and Anonymous identity fields.

  • If after following the instructions above you're still unable to connect, restart your device.

  • This is considered advanced troubleshooting. If you do not feel comfortable following these steps, bring your device to the Service Desk Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
