Update Windows on a Cal Poly Owned PC

Problem

"I need to upgrade the Windows operating system on my Cal Poly PC."

"I keep getting a pop-up window on my state-owned computer that says I must reactivate Windows. How do I download the license activation key?"

Solution

To install Windows upgrades:

  1. From the Start Menu, click Settings.

Widows icon is highlighted. In the menu, Settings is highlighted

  2. Click Update & Security.

    Update and Security is highlighted
  3. Click Check online for updates from Microsoft Update.

  4. If there are updates, once they are finished installing, click the Restart now button. Updates will disappear once installed unless a restart is needed.
If you see a Pending restart message next to an update, you may need to run updates more than once.
