Can't Connect to VPN Client (GlobalProtect) / Refresh Connection

In some cases, users may actually need to Force Quit the GlobalProtect app or even Restart their computer to unfreeze the unresponsive GlobalProtect app and try connecting/refreshing afterwards.

Problem

"When I try to connect to the VPN Client (GlobaProtect), the globe icon just spins (is unresponsive) and does not complete the connection."

Solution

There may be an error with the connection that needs to be refreshed. Here’s how to Refresh the VPN Client (GlobalProtect) connection.

Mac

  1. Click the GlobalPretect icon, located in the top right region of the MacOS menu bar, then click the hamburger (three stacked horizontal lines) button and select Refresh Connection.

A new GlobalProtect Refresh? app panel appears.

  2. Click the Reshresh Connection button.

The app should then ask you to log in again (in your default browser) with your Cal Poly portal account info/Duo authentication credentials to get you connected.

Windows

  1. Click the GlobalPretect icon located in the bottom right corner Windows system tray,

then click the hamburger (three stacked horizontal lines) button and select Refresh Connection.

A new GlobalProtect Refresh? app panel appears.

  2. Click the Reshresh Connection button.

The app should then ask you to log in again (in your default browser) with your Cal Poly portal account info/Duo authentication credentials to get you connected.
