How to Install/Uninstall the AppsAnywhere Client

The AppsAnywhere client is needed to access the Cal Poly Software Hub. Please follow the instructions below to install or uninstall the AppsAnywhere client on your Mac or Windows device.

The Cal Poly Software Hub provides software that may be installed on personal computers.
If you’re using a Cal Poly state-owned computer or a tech rental, please see the support pages for installing software on Windows or Mac. However, virtual computer lab software links are available to state-owned, tech rentals, and personal computers alike.

Mac

INSTALL
the AppsAnywhere Client on Mac

  1. Go to software.calpoly.edu. Cal Poly portal login is required.

  2. Click Install now. Allow/Accept user license if prompted.

  3. Double-click on the downloaded .zip and then the installer file to run it.

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup process.

  5. Finally, you should see “Installation complete”. Click Done.

  6. Return to your browser, then click I have completed installation.
    Click Allow if prompted and check the box to always allow, then click Open AppsAnywhere.app.

  7. The AppsAnywhere client is now installed. Feel free to browse/search the Cal Poly Software Hub for access to campus-licensed software titles.

 

UNINSTALL
the AppsAnywhere Client on Mac

  1. On your Mac, click the Spotlight icon in the upper right corner of the menu bar, or press Command-Space bar.

  2. Type “AppsAnywhere Uninstaller (without quotes) in the search field.
    The AppsAnywhere Uninstaller app should appear in the list of search results.

  3. Double-click the AppsAnywhere Uninstaller app to run it.

  4. Click Remove. You may be asked to enter your password for your computer. Enter your password as required.

  5. Wait for the dialog box to show the “Uninstallation Complete” message. Then click OK.

After uninstalling the AppsAnywhere client, if you need to reinstall it on your Mac, please be sure to clear your browsing history/cache and then restart your browser before installing it again.

Windows

INSTALL
the AppsAnywhare Client on Windows

  1. Go to software.calpoly.edu. Cal Poly portal login is required.

  2. Click Install now. You should see a notice regarding the download status of the AppsAnywhere Setup file. Click Allow/Accept user license if prompted.

  3. Locate the downloaded file on your computer and double-click on it to run it.
    (Installation requires administration-level permissions on your device)

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup process.
    You may be prompted to allow the AppsAnywhere client to run/proceed. Be sure to choose OK/Yes when asked and enter your password as required.

  5. Finally, you should see “Installation complete”. Click Done.

  6. Return to your browser, then click I have completed installation.
    Click Allow if prompted and check the box to always allow, then click Open AppsAnywhere Launcher.

  7. The AppsAnywhere client is now installed. Feel free to browse/search the Cal Poly Software Hub for access to campus licensed software titles.

UNINSTALL
the AppsAnywhere Client on Windows

  1. Open Windows Control Panel.

  2. Under the Programs sections, click Uninstall a program.

  3. Locate the AppsAnywhere app icon in the list of installed software and right-click on it. Then choose Uninstall.

  4. Wait for the uninstallation to complete. If you are asked to confirm/proceed, click Yes.

  5. Upon completion, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Click Restart.

After uninstalling the AppsAnywhere client, if you need to reinstall it on your Windows PC, please be sure to clear your browsing history/cache and then restart your browser before installing it again.
