Learn how to download and install or deactivate SolidWorks, a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) computer program.
Go to Software Request.
Under Software Selection > Software Title search enter "solidworks".
Select SolidWorks Student Education Edition 2021-2022 - Windows (64 bit) or the version your instructor would like you to use.
Accept the terms by clicking the Yes radio button.
Click on the Serial & Download info button.
Go to solidworks.com/SEK.
Enter your information using your calpoly.edu email address.
Under Select one of the following, click Student.
Scroll down to the field I already have a Serial Number that starts with 9020 and click Yes. Select the most recent version as indicated on the Academic Use Software page under SolidWorks.
Click the Request Download button. Read the Terms of Use and click the Accept and Continue button.
Click on Download.
You will be prompted to download the Solidworks installation manager 'SolidworksSetup.exe'.
Right click the SolidworksSetup.exe file to unzip it.
A new file called Setup should appear in your folder and the Solidworks Installation Manager window will pop up.
Under the Specify type of installation field, click Install on this computer, then click the Next button.
Select the components (Visualization, CAM, simulation, 3D design, etc) you need depending on your instructor's instructions. Do not select 'Electrical' as it requires Microsoft SQL Server.
Log in to your SolidWorks account as it will automatically populate the serial numbers. If you can't log in, enter the serial number 9020 0049 5744 0233 HKHV 966G for every component you want to install, then click Next.
SolidWorks will now download to your device. Once downloaded, start Solidworks Student Edition.
The SolidWorks license activation manager will appear. To activate click the Automatically over the Internet button.
Once activated, click the Finish button. You should now have SolidWorksS installed and activated on your device.
