A MAC address is a hardware identification number that uniquely identifies each device on a network. MAC addresses are formatted with colons (XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX). Knowing a device's MAC address helps to connect to the CP-IoT WiFi network and troubleshoot wireless issues. Typically, the Mac address can be found in a device's network settings or in the documentation that came with the device. 

 Computer, smartphone, or tablet

macOS

Hold down the Option key and from the menu bar click the Wi-Fi icon. Find your MAC address under Address.

Windows

Settings Network and Internet > Ethernet or Wi-Fi (depending on your connection), click the connection, then scroll down to view (Hardware) PropertiesPhysical address (MAC).

Chromebook

Open Chrome and enter chrome://system in the address bar. Go to iconfig and click the Expand button. wlan0 > next to ether find your MAC address.

Linux

Open a terminal (Ctrl-Alt-T) > Type ifconfig -a and hit Enter > next to HWaddr or Ethernet find your MAC address.

iOS (iPhone, iPad, iTouch)

Settings > General > About > scroll down to Wi-Fi Address.

Android

Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi More optionsAdvancedMAC address.

Settings > About Device/About tablet > Status Wi-Fi MAC address.

Settings > Wireless & networks/Network & Internet > Wi-Fi >  Wi-Fi MAC address.

 Gaming devices

PlayStation 4/5

  • Turn on the PlayStation without a disc in the tray.

  • Settings > Network Settings > Connection Status List > MAC Address

Nintendo Switch

System Settings > Internet > System MAC Address on the right side.

Nintendo 3DS

System Settings > Internet Settings > Other Information > Confirm MAC Address

Nintendo Wii U

From the Wii U menu, select System Settings > Internet > View MAC address

Nintendo Wii

  • From the main Wii Menu, select the Wii Options button (bottom left corner). Select Wii Settings.

  • Select the right arrow to move to the second page of system settings.

  • Internet > Console Information > MAC Address

Xbox One

Settings > Network > Advanced Settings > MAC Address

Xbox 360(pre-NXE)

Network Settings > Edit Settings > Additional Settings > Advanced Settings > MAC Address

Xbox 360(NXE)

System Settings > Network Settings > Configure Network > Additional Settings > Advanced Settings > MAC Address

Xbox

  • Turn on the Xbox with no disc in the tray and unplug network cable.

  • Xbox Dashboard > Xbox Live Connect Status > Settings > Network Settings > MAC Address

 Media devices

Apple TV

Settings > (General)  >About/Network > Wireless ID/Ethernet ID

Roku

In some cases, it is on a tag on the side or bottom of the device. Otherwise, Settings > Network > (About) Wireless/Ethernet MAC address

Amazon Fire Stick

Only Fire Sticks with a remote will work. Settings > System > About > Network MAC (Hardware) address
