  • At your scheduled time, visit the Natatorium (No. 46) to pick up your new iPhone.
  • Turn
    1. between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

    2. If needed, request a tech support appointment to activate and configure the iPhone through the ticket.

    3. If activating the mobile phone yourself, turn off your old iPhone.

    4. Call Verizon at 1-877-807-4646 from a separate line. Do not call from your old or new device.

    5. Unbox your new phone and follow the onscreen instructions to set up your iPhone.

      1. Activate using a strong cell signal.

      2. Activating your new phone will deactivate your old phone.

      3. Set up manually by selecting “set up as new phone” NOT “restore from back-up.”

      4. Select eduroam as your WiFi network. Log in with your full Cal Poly email address (including the @calpoly.edu) and password. 

      5. Complete the process for campus device enrollment using your Cal Poly Profile. Your Cal Poly username should not include @calpoly.edu.

      6. Once you're back to the Home Screen, the Jamf Setup app, used to quickly set up and configure your phone, will automatically install and open.

      7. Select your department, then tap the Submit button.

      8. Press the Home button or swipe up to close the Jamf Setup app.

    6. After activation,

    make a test call to see that phone service is activated, then send
    1. call your phone from a separate line to ensure it is activated. Send a test text message to someone else to verify iMessage is working.

    2. Set up Outlook (email and calendar) for iOS.

    1. Erase all content and settings from your old iPhone.

    2. Return the old iPhone to your Telephone Coordinator

  • Find Verizon’s Activation Guide in the Android phone box and follow the instructions or give the ITS Service Desk a specific date/time to activate cellular service on the new device for you
    1. between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

    2. If needed, request a tech support appointment to activate and configure the Android phone through the ticket.

    3. If activating the mobile phone yourself, turn off your old Android phone.

    4. Call Verizon at 1-877-807-4646 from a separate line. Do not call from your old or new device.

    5. Unbox your new phone and follow the onscreen instructions to set it up.

      1. Activate using a strong cell signal.

      2. Activating your new phone will deactivate your old phone.

      3. Select eduroam as your WiFi network.

    Restore the back up from your old Android phone using Verizon Cloud (or your preferred backup service)
    1. After activation, call your phone from a separate line to ensure it is activated. Send a test text message to someone else to verify messaging is working.

    2. Set up Outlook (email and calendar) for Android.

    After activating your new Android phone:

    1. Reset your Android device to factory settings.

     The Android erase cycle may take 10 minutes or more to finish, depending on how much data is stored on the device or memory card.
