  1. Log in to the My Cal Poly portal.

  2. Go to the Personal Info tabPersonal Info portlet > Authorized Devices > Multi-factor Authentication > Edit.

  3. Under Device, select a mobile phone number. Click the Send Me a Push button.

  4. A login request will be pushed to your mobile phone.

  5. On your phone, tap the Duo Mobile verify your identity notification.

  6. Tap Approve. Note: Only approve requests that you have initiated. If you have not initiated a push notification, do not approve it.

  7. You will see a green Approved screen confirming you have authenticated and your identity has been verified.You will be prompted to authenticate with a currently enrolled device. Choose your preferred method and complete the verification process on your device.

  8. Click Add a device.

  9. Select Duo Mobile

  10. Enter your phone number and click Continue.

  11. Review your info and click Yes, it’s correct to confirm.

  12. On your mobile device, download/install the Duo Mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.

  13. Click Next.

  14. Open the Duo Mobile App on your phone. Click Add>Use QR Code.

  15. Point your phone at the on-screen QR code until you receive a confirmation screen with the check mark.

  1. When you first attempt to access a Cal Poly application (that is Duo/MFA-enabled), you will see a Welcome to Duo Security prompt. Click Next.

    Subsequent screens will present information about the importance of MFA. Click through those until the Select an option prompt appears…

  2. Select Duo Mobile.

  3. Select your country from the drop-down list and type your mobile phone number, and then click Add phone number.

  4. If you entered a phone number, double-check that you entered it correctly and click Yes, it's correct.

  5. Choose how you want to receive the code and enter it to complete verification and continue.

  6. Download and install Duo Mobile on your phone or tablet from the Apple App Store. Once you have Duo Mobile installed click Next.

  7. Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone or tablet and add this account by scanning pointing your phone directly towards the QR code shown on-screen.

If you aren't able to scan the QR code, tap Get an activation link instead and then enter your email address to send the activation link to yourself. Follow the instructions in the email to activate the new account in Duo Mobile.

  1. When you receive confirmation that Duo Mobile was added click Continue.

    You can now log in to Cal Poly MFA/Duo-enabled applications.
