To determine your account type, go to your Zoom profile page and scroll down to Account > License. You will either have a Basic or Licensed (Education) account.

  • Licensed Account - Students, faculty and staff are provided with a licensed Education Zoom account, which allows for hosting meetings with up to 300 participants, enables recording, and automatically generates a Personal Meeting ID.

  • Basic Account - A free Zoom account (unlicensed) allows for hosting meetings of up to 100 participants; however, the meeting time is limited to 40 minutes if there are three or more participants. If a meeting is hosted by a licensed account, attendees with Basic Zoom accounts have no such limitations.

If your Zoom license was downgraded and you want to switch your Zoom account back to licensed status, see Zoom License Change from Licensed to Basic.
