Basic vs. Licensed Zoom Account

 

How to Determine Your Zoom License Features

Cal Poly provides licensed Zoom accounts to eligible students, faculty, and staff. Your Zoom license determines the maximum number of meeting participants you can host, the maximum meeting duration, and other available features.

To view your Zoom license features:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Web Portal. (calpoly.zoom.us)

  2. Select Profile.

  3. Scroll to the Account section.

  4. Under License, locate the Zoom Meetings entry to view your meeting capacity and maximum meeting duration.

Understanding Your Zoom License

Use the Zoom Meetings information displayed in your Profile to identify your account type.

Basic (Unlicensed) Account

Zoom License Comparison

Faculty & Staff Licensed Account

  • Host Zoom Meetings with up to 1,000 participants.

  • Meetings may last up to 30 hours.

  • Can record meetings (subject to Cal Poly storage policies).

  • Automatically receive a Personal Meeting ID (PMI).

Student Licensed Account

  • Host Zoom Meetings with up to 300 participants.

  • Meetings may last up to 30 hours.

  • Can record meetings (subject to Cal Poly storage policies).

  • Automatically receive a Personal Meeting ID (PMI).

Basic (Unlicensed) Account

  • Host meetings with up to 100 participants.

  • Hosted meetings with three or more participants are limited to 40 minutes.

  • When joining a meeting hosted by a licensed user, the Basic account’s 40 min. time limit does not apply.
