To determine your account type, go to your Zoom profile page and scroll down to Account > License. You will either have a Basic or Licensed (Education) account.

  • Basic - A free Zoom account (unlicensed) allows for hosting meetings of up to 100 participants; however, the meeting time is limited to 40 minutes if there are three or more participants. If a meeting is hosted by a licensed account, attendees with Basic accounts have no such limitations.

  • Licensed - Students, faculty and staff are provided with a licensed Education account, which allows for hosting meetings with up to 300 participants, enables recording, and automatically generates a Personal Meeting ID.

If your Zoom license was downgraded and you want to switch your Zoom account back to licensed status, see Zoom License Change from Licensed to Basic.
