A mobile phone is recommended to call 911 if available. The GPS technology built into most mobile devices ensures that emergency services can find you more reliably.
Follow the steps listed here to set your location for a 911 emergency on your Softphone (Micollab desktop app).
Launch Micollab on Windows or Mac, and a red dot alerting you to set your location appears in the bottom left corner of the app.
Click the Red Dot displayed in the bottom left corner.
Download and install the Mitel Network Helper if prompted.
Click Add to add a new location.
Fill out the form to create a new location.
NOTE: 1 Grand Avenue, San Luis Obispo, CA 93407 is the main campus address.
IMPORTANT: Location Info is the field to use for more detail beyond the main campus address. This is critical in office environments with multiple floors, buildings, and rooms.
Here is an example of a completed location entryWhen you move to a new location, you will need to set your new location for 911 again.
Once you have set multiple locations, the system will attempt to help you set it correctly based on where you are at the given moment.
Cal Poly does not have access to locations set within the app. Your data is sent directly to the nationwide 911 system at the time of a 911 telephone call only.
Never call 911 to test your configuration.
