Follow the steps listed here to set your location for a 911 emergency on your IP/Softphone.

Using your mobile phone to call 911 is recommended if available. The GPS technology built into most mobile devices ensures that emergency services can find you more reliably.

To Set your location for 911:

  1. When you first launch Micollab, you will be asked to set your location.

  2. Click the Add button to add a new location

  3. Fill out the form to create a new location.
IMPORTANT: Location Info is the field to use for more detail beyond the address. This is critical in office environments with multiple floors, buildings, and rooms. This is what will be sent to emergency services if you were to call 911 using your softphone.

  4. When you move to a new location, you will need to set your new location for 911 again.
Once you have set multiple locations, the system will attempt to help you set it correctly based on where you are at the given moment.

  • Cal Poly does not have access to locations set within the app. Your data is sent directly to the nationwide 911 system at the time of a 911 telephone call only.

  • Never call 911 to test your configuration.

  • 911 is for emergency use only.

If you need further assistance setting your location for 911, please feel free to contact the Service Desk.
