Cal Poly Sign-In Experience (Classic Compared to Microsoft)
Cal Poly currently uses two sign-in services for websites and programs - Cal Poly Classic and Microsoft.
Classic and Microsoft Sign-Ins
Classic Sign-In: Is used for many Cal Poly websites and applications
Microsoft Sign-In: Is used primarily for Microsoft and Azure product sign-ins, including Office 365, OneDrive, Azure, Teams, and related services.
NOTE: Both methods require Multi-Factor Authentication through Duo.
That inherent process is not included in the examples below.
The following information illustrates the two sign-in methods and the acceptable authentication options for each.
Classic Sign-In
IMPORTANT: Be sure to check your browser for the web address (URL) starting with idp.calpoly.edu
You will be prompted on screen for your Cal Poly username and password.
After typing in your Cal Poly Username and Password, click the Login button to sign into your Cal Poly Account.
Microsoft Sign-In
IMPORTANT: Be sure to check your browser for the web address (URL) starting with login.microsoft.com
Microsoft will first prompt you for your Cal Poly email address.
After entering your full Cal Poly email address, click Next.
Then you will be presented with a Cal Poly-branded window requesting to enter your password.
Enter your password and click the Sign in button.
Click the Yes button to remember your login (optional).
