Switching Between CSUM and Cal Poly Accounts

Problem

As we transition systems/services over during the integration period, you’ll have two separate accounts that provide access to various campus-related work items:

  • CSUM account: username@csum.edu

  • Cal Poly account: username@calpoly.edu

You may need to switch between these accounts or access both simultaneously.

Try These Solutions Based on Your Scenario

If you frequently need dual access…

Select a browser to use for each account
(e.g., Chrome for your CSUM account, and Safari for your Cal Poly account.)

Steps:

  1. Open Browser A (e.g., Chrome )

    • Sign in with your CSUM account

    • Access existing services/systems.

  2. Open Browser B (e.g., Safari, Edge, or Firefox)

    • Sign in with your Cal Poly account

    • Access other services/systems

Tips:

  • Bookmark key services in each browser

  • Use different themes or colors to avoid confusion

  • Rename desktop shortcuts (e.g., “CSUM Chrome” vs. “Cal Poly Safari”)

If you temporarily access the second account…

Use an incognito or private browser window

Use this method for temporary access to your second account without affecting your main session.

Steps:

  1. Open your regular browser and sign in to your CSUM account as you would normally.

  2. Launch an incognito or private browser window.
*See table below for specific browser shortcut/menu options to do this.

  3. Navigate to the Cal Poly service

  4. Sign in with your Cal Poly account

  5. Use the service as needed—your login will disappear once the window is closed
