Apple MacBook Audio over HDMI - Select Extron HDMI
When connecting your MacBook to the HDMI input in many classrooms or conference rooms, an extra step is needed to ensure audio plays through the room’s speakers.
By default, video will display on the monitor or projector, but sound will continue to play through your MacBook’s internal speakers unless you change the audio output setting…
To route audio through the classroom or conference room speakers, follow these steps:
STEP 1 - Open Control Center.
Click the Control Center icon in the menu bar at the top right of your screen.
STEP 2 - Access Sound Settings
Hover over the Sound section; an expand icon will appear.
Click to expand the Sound menu.
If you do not see the Extron HDMI option, ensure the HDMI cable is securely connected and the room’s AV system is powered ON.
STEP 3 - Select Extron HDMI from the list.
This will send audio to the room’s speakers instead of your MacBook’s speaker.
NOTE:
MacBooks do not always automatically switch audio output to HDMI when connected through Extron HDBaseT equipment. Unlike direct HDMI connections to a TV or monitor, you must manually select the HDMI/Extron device as the audio output.
