Update Windows on a Cal Poly Owned PC

Windows will periodically notify you about the availability of new Windows updates. You can also proactively check for new updates and run them yourself. Follow the steps listed below to check for and install updates on a device running Windows 11:

To update Windows:

1. From the Start Menu, click Settings.

2. At the bottom of the Settings menu, click Windows Update.

3. Click Check for updates. In the example screenshot below, Windows has already detected several security updates available and is finishing its check. Click the Install button to begin installing any updates.

4. If no updates are found, Windows will display “You’re up to date.” You can also enable or check various other update-related settings on this page, including:

   • activating an auto-update feature

   • pausing updates for a chosen period of time

   • checking the computer’s update history
