Cal Poly’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) service allows faculty and staff to securely access campus technology resources including the wiki, file shares (V: drive), and software including Minitab, MATLAB, ArcMap, JMP Pro, ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD 2019, Solidworks 2019 SP 3.0, and more.If you have questions about accessing specific technology resources via VPN or need help, ask your local tech support or the ITS Service Desk.
To access GlobalProtect VPN, you must first enroll inDuo, Cal Poly’s multi-factor authentication tool.
You may need administrative access or “elevated rights” to install VPN software and update the configuration settings on your device.
For the best results, make sure your computer is updated to the latest operating system.
If prompted to update to the newest version of GlobalProtect VPN, please do so.
The GlobalProtect Linux agent is not officially supported. College of Engineering students, contact your local tech support.

Before setting up VPN, you must enroll your device(s) with Multi-Factor Authentication (Duo). You will need to add a primary and secondary device.
Go to cpvpn.calpoly.edu and log in with your Cal Poly username (do not include @calpoly.edu) and password.
Click on the Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent link.
Once downloaded, launch the GlobalProtect.pkg.
Start installation by clicking the Continue button three times.
Use Touch ID or enter your password to allow the software to be installed. If asked, click the Install Software button. You should receive a confirmation message that your software has been installed. Then click the Close button.
If asked "Do you want to move the GlobalProtect Installer to the Trash?", click the Move to Trash button.
At the top of the window, click the GlobalProtect icon. Enter cpvpn.calpoly.edu as the portal address, then click the Connect button.

macOS 10.13 and later users
You may need to go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Next, click the lock icon, enter your password, then click the Unlock button. Lastly, click Allow.
Log in with your Cal Poly username (do not include @calpoly.edu) and password (similar to step 2) and authenticate using Multi-Factor Authentication/Duo (similar to step 3).
Once you are done with your session, click the GlobalProtect icon, then click the Disconnect button.
